Located around the San Francisco Bay Area, this is my first review out of NY State.
Ratings are out of 20
Restaurant: Hog Island Oyster Company
Location: [main location at the ferry market building in sf] 101 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA AND in Napa [for more info on that go to hogislandoysters.com]
Type: Fresh Seafood
Food: 9/10
Service: NA (We sat at the bar)
Overall Experience: NA
Best Dishes: Any raw oysters, clam chowder, steamed clams [steamers]

Probably the best oysters I have ever had, you really cannot go wrong with any raw oysters.  With the oysters, they really focus on texture, and they never shuck a bad oyster.  With both restaurants being at excellent locations, its not hard to find, and with a nice fresh decor, you really cannot go wrong!

Notes:  In the San Francisco location, it is right by the market!

  1. Nice to see that you like raw oysters! I was surprised to see that the steamed clams were "manila clams," not the species you see on the east coast. Which variety of oysters were on the menu? Did you try all of them?

  2. Did you eat anything other than the seafood there? I've been having seafood cravings, too.
