Large Snow could come on Wednesday

Next Wednesday their is a chance for a monster storm, and according to the models this would bring about 1.35 inches of precipitation, and depending on the temperature that could vary from 10 to 20 inches of snow.  Now obviously this is not a sure thing, because if the storm track ends up being farther north than expected now, that would mean more rain and ice and less snow, allowing for lesser snow totals.  But as of now it is expected to be snow.  Also, according to accuweather.com, there is another chance for a large snow next weekend.  These should both be major snows, so keep checking back for updates on the storm that should effect our region on wednesday with a major snowstorm.

More snow possible Friday/Saturday and next Wednesday/Thursday

According to Accuweather.com and weather.com, there should be two more storms approaching the area, both predicting different outcomes for each storm.  Weather.com thinks that the storm on Friday and Saturday should be the bigger one, forecasting snow, but on the second storm, it forecasts only "Few snow showers."  On the other hand, accuweather.com is the opposite, calling for snow showers on the first storm and a solid snow for the second storm.  Right now, both storms look very goo to me.  The GFS weather model has the second storm being bigger now, but the model has been shaky many times.  Also, if you calculate the snow totals, the first storm would bring down .7 inches of precipitation, or around 8 inches of snow.  The second storm would bring 1.7 inches of precipitation, or around 20 inches of snow. This could be a monster!!  But usually the GFS overdoes things, so I would say around 6 inches for the first storm and 18 inches for the second.  Their is still a lot of speculation, but I think we have our hands full with snow for the next week and a half.

NFL Playoff Picks 2010-2011

Now that the playoffs are coming up, I am making my playoff predictions:

Wild Card Round:
3. Colts vs. 6. Jets= 6. Jets 20-17
4. Chiefs vs. 5. Ravens= 5. Ravens 27-10

3. Eagles vs. 6. Packers= Packers 24-14
4. Seahawks vs. 5. Saints= Saints 31-17

Quarterfinals:
1. Patriots vs. 6. Jets= 1. Patriots 27-17
2. Steelers vs. 5. Ravens= 5. Ravens 13-10

1. Falcons vs. 6. Packers= 6. Packers 24-17
2. Bears vs. 5. Saints= 5. Saints 27-24

Semifinals:
1. Patriots vs. 5. Ravens= 1. Patriots 31-20
6. Packers vs. 5. Saints= 6. Packers 27-23

Super Bowl:
Patriots vs. Packers
In a thrilling game in Dallas, the Packers fend off Tom Brady and the Patriots and continue their miracle run.  With a strong quarterback and a great defense, Aaron Rodgers will take his game to the next level and compete with Tom Brady, who will have trouble without Wes Walker.  Without him, they will have trouble with medium pass plays, and will have to run more than they want to.  The Packers, lead by their stellar defense, will contain the Patriots to many field goals, and will create havoc against the Patriots D.  Despite this, the Patriots will find ways to compete, and stay in it till the very end, and will be held short on a final drive.

Packers 27, Patriots 23

Big storm possibility on Monday

I have been looking at the updated GFS Weather Model, which can be found here, that is calling for large amounts of precipitation in the metropolitan area.  I have checked multiple weather forecasts on weather.com and accuweather.com and they both call for light snow or snow, but have not updated in a while.  It should be cold enough with the freeze that should last into next week, and it should start on Sunday night and finish on Tuesday according to the model.  For anyone at school, this will probably mean no school on Monday or Tuesday.  If you add up all of the precipitation, you get about 2.35 inches.   But then you have to multiply that by around 8 because snow is much larger than rain.  This means that according to the gfs we will get 18.8 inches.  Though I know that will not happen because the gfs models always make the storms longer than they really are.  But the storm could dump as much as a foot of snow, but I highly doubt 18.8 inches.  This storm might be the most snow we get all winter, as it is supposed to be a much lighter winter than last year.  If you don't remember, we had about 5 storms in the area that dumped at least 8 inches, including 2 that dumped 20 inches or more.

Food: Hog Island Oyster Company

Located around the San Francisco Bay Area, this is my first review out of NY State.
Ratings are out of 20
Restaurant: Hog Island Oyster Company
Location: [main location at the ferry market building in sf] 101 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA AND in Napa [for more info on that go to hogislandoysters.com]
Type: Fresh Seafood
Food: 9/10
Service: NA (We sat at the bar)
Overall Experience: NA
Best Dishes: Any raw oysters, clam chowder, steamed clams [steamers]

Probably the best oysters I have ever had, you really cannot go wrong with any raw oysters.  With the oysters, they really focus on texture, and they never shuck a bad oyster.  With both restaurants being at excellent locations, its not hard to find, and with a nice fresh decor, you really cannot go wrong!

Notes:  In the San Francisco location, it is right by the market!

Who will make the rotation?

This year the Mets rotation will be up for grabs, and we discuss here the troubles some of the usual starters might have at securing their job for this season.

Sorry for the hold up on Orrisa

If you are waiting for my review of Orrisa it will be coming out soon and I have not forgotten about it.  The problem that we are having with reviewing Orissa that we did not have with other restaurants is that Orrisa does not have an online menu.  We will continue to look for an online menu and when found we will publish our review.

Thank you for your corporation,
Noah

Food: Candlelight Inn

Ratings are out of 20
Restaurant: Candlelight Inn
Location: 519 Central Park Avenue, Scarsdale, NY
Type: American
Food: 7/10
Service 4/10
Overall Experience:  11
Best Dishes:  Just get any type of chicken wings you like, but do not get chernobyl.  It is extremely spicy!

This restaurant would be rated much higher if it were not for the huge wait, loud environment, and average service.  The wings are unbelievable and the fries are good but everything else is not something to rave about.  If you are a patient person with a lot of time who feels like wings, this is your place.

Notes:  If you don't like being in crowded places do not come here.

Snow: More snow possible on Wednesday

According to accuweather.com, there could be more snow for the New York Metropolitan area this Wednesday, on top of the 25 inches we picked up on Thursday and Friday.  This can be a major problem because the trees that already are weakened from the 20 inches on them for 3 days, so even if there isn't nearly as much snow as the last storm, there can still be some major problems.

Just another reason why Jose Reyes should not bat third

If you click here, I sum up why hitting Reyes third would make the team much worse, and hitting Reyes second would make the team a little better now, and make Reyes much better for the long term.  It is a good article you should probably check out.

The Nets win! How can you possibly be a Nets broadcaster?

Yesterday, the Nets won only their third road game of the season, this time against the Celtics, with Brook Lopez leading the way with 25 points.  But even with the win last night, it must be horrible to be a nets broadcaster.

Imagine having to broadcast every game for 81 games, and after every game having no hope that the team you are covering would win the next day.  That is what it feels like to be Marv Albert, Ian Eagle, and Jim Sparnakel, as they broadcast the Nets day in day out.

The Mets have made an offer to pitcher Joe Beimel.  For more info on the offer click here.

Food: Sushi Mikes

Ratings are out of 20
Restaurant: Sushi Mikes
Location: 146 Main Street, Dobbs Ferry, Ny
Type: Sushi/Japanese
Food: 9/10
Service: 7/10
Overall Experience: 16
Best dishes:  Joe Petito Roll, S&S Roll, Seaweed Salad

One of our families favorite restaurants in Dobbs Ferry, has been featured in Westchester's Best many times, and the service is nice and friendly, and food is unbelievably fresh.  Though it can get loud, and the waiters occasionally have trouble understanding your orders.

Notes: Live Piano and singing on Monday.
